Art Advisory Services
An art collection should best reflect the collector’s personality, tastes, and interests. Significant collections have been built with:
- work from a specific time period or geography
- a common theme
- a specific art movement (abstraction, minimalism, pop, conceptualism) or
- a chosen medium, such as, painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper (drawings or print editions), new media (film, video, and sound installations), outdoor sculpture or installations.
There are many different approaches to building an art collection. Some collectors have started with smaller purchases before taking on larger financial commitments. Others have built their collections around modestly-priced drawings or print editions by artists, who are renowned painters or sculptors, and whose better-known works command higher prices. Still other collectors have invested a specific amount of money over a period of time, building distinguished collections with the help of an art advisor.
